Batam Ready to Host International Football Festival in 2026
The Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BP Batam) has officially expressed its support for the hosting of the Batam Prime International Grassroot Football Festival, scheduled for 2026. This sporting event aims to strengthen the sport tourism sector in the Batam region. Furthermore, the festival is expected to serve as a means to foster friendly relations between countries in the Southeast Asian region.
This football festival will involve participants from various countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, and Malaysia. The presence of young players from these neighboring countries provides an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and culture through sports. This regional cooperation is considered vital for advancing football achievements from an early age or at the grassroots level.
BP Batam sees significant economic potential in hosting such an international event. With the arrival of many foreign guests, the hospitality, transportation, and culinary sectors in Batam are predicted to experience an increase in revenue. This aligns with the government's vision to establish Batam as an international activity hub that attracts foreign tourists.
Through this festival, Batam is expected to become increasingly recognized as a quality sports destination on the international stage. Developing young athletes through healthy competition is the key to creating a better future for football. All parties hope that the event in 2026 will run smoothly and provide a positive impact on the wider community in Indonesia.
