Gorontalo Targets Higher Position in Indonesia Muslim Travel Index
Gorontalo Province is showing great ambition in developing the halal tourism sector in Indonesia. Recently, Gorontalo managed to achieve a commendable position in the 2025 Indonesia Muslim Travel Index (IMTI). This achievement serves as motivation for the local government to continue improving the quality of services for tourists.
In the IMTI 2025 announcement, Gorontalo Province successfully ranked 11th nationally. This achievement is considered a very positive first step, as it shows that tourism facilities and services in the region have begun to meet high standards. This recognition is based on an assessment of the availability of halal food, places of worship, and service hospitality for Muslim tourists.
The Gorontalo Provincial Government stated that they do not want to stop at the 11th position. They have set a major target to climb to a higher rank in the coming years. To achieve this target, the government will focus on developing tourism-supporting infrastructure and strengthening the promotion of unique local destinations to the general public.
Indonesia itself is currently one of the largest halal tourism markets in the world. With indices like IMTI, every province in Indonesia is encouraged to compete healthily in providing comfort for travelers. Gorontalo sees this opportunity as an effective way to drive the local economy through a tourism sector that is welcoming to everyone.
With a spirit of cooperation between the government, business actors, and the community, Gorontalo is optimistic about becoming one of the primary halal tourism destinations in the country. An improved ranking in the future is expected not only to bring awards but also to attract more tourists who wish to enjoy Gorontalo's natural beauty and culture with a sense of safety and comfort.
