Gunungkidul Government's Efforts to Reduce Stunting Rates from the Village Level
The Gunungkidul Regency Government is currently intensifying its stunting prevention program, targeting the village level directly. This step is being taken as a serious effort to reduce the rate of stunted growth in children due to chronic malnutrition, which remains a health challenge in the region.
The main focus of this program is improving nutrition for pregnant women and toddlers. The local government is collaborating with village health cadres to ensure that children receive a balanced nutritional intake. In addition, child growth monitoring is carried out routinely at integrated healthcare centers (posyandu) so that nutritional problems can be detected early.
Beyond the nutritional aspect, the government is also placing great emphasis on improving environmental sanitation. Access to clean water and healthy latrines has become a priority, as clean environmental conditions significantly influence children's health and the prevention of infectious diseases that can trigger stunting.
Public education is also an important part of this program. Parents are provided with an understanding of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and proper parenting patterns. By involving the active role of village residents, it is hoped that awareness of the importance of child health can increase significantly.
This program is expected to create a healthier and more competitive future generation. The Gunungkidul government is committed to continuously monitoring the progress of this program so that the national target for reducing stunting rates can be achieved optimally through concrete steps starting from the village level.
