Anak Krakatau Volcanic Ash Disrupts Flights on Java Island
Mount Anak Krakatau has again shown significant volcanic activity in the last few days. The eruption spread volcanic ash to various regions on the island of Java, forcing authorities to raise the alert status around the mountain area.
As a result of this volcanic ash spread, flight operations at four airports in Indonesia have been forced to experience disruptions. Fine volcanic dust is very dangerous for aircraft engines, so aviation authorities decided to postpone several departure schedules for the sake of passenger safety.
The Indonesian government has now intensified 24-hour monitoring of Mount Anak Krakatau's activity. A team of experts from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation continues to observe the movement of the ash to provide the latest information to the public and airlines.
Passengers planning to travel by air are advised to always check their flight status periodically. In addition, people living in the affected areas are advised to wear masks when doing activities outdoors to avoid respiratory problems due to exposure to volcanic ash.
This situation is still being closely monitored by the relevant authorities. The government hopes that the volcanic activity will soon decrease so that air transport operations can return to normal in the near future.
