Government Prepares 2026-2029 AI Roadmap for National Technological Independence
The Indonesian government is currently drafting an artificial intelligence (AI) roadmap for the 2026 to 2029 period. This step is being taken as a strategic effort to strengthen domestic technological independence amidst rapid global digital development.
In addition to focusing on technological infrastructure development, the government is also designing regulations regarding the ethics of AI usage. This is considered important so that the utilization of such technology remains in line with national values and provides protection for the public as users.
Experts emphasize that AI development in Indonesia should not focus solely on technical aspects. Ethics, data security, and human resource readiness are often overlooked, even though these elements are the primary foundation for AI technology to provide a sustainable positive impact.
Through this roadmap, the government hopes that Indonesia will not just be a consumer of technology from abroad. It is expected that Indonesia will be able to create AI-based innovations that are relevant to local needs and capable of competing on the international stage.
This program serves as a crucial initial step for national digital transformation. With clear regulations and mature planning, it is hoped that the utilization of AI in Indonesia can proceed in a more directed and secure manner, while providing tangible benefits for the economy and the wider community.
