Head of BRIN Targets Indonesian Self-Sufficiency in Chip Technology Production
The Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, presented an important vision regarding the future of Indonesia's technology before President Prabowo Subianto. He emphasized that the progress of a nation is largely determined by the research and innovation capacity possessed by that country.
In his statement, Arif highlighted Indonesia's dependence on technological components from abroad, particularly chips. Currently, many electronic devices in Indonesia still rely on imported chips from other countries. This is considered a major challenge for national technological sovereignty.
Therefore, BRIN is committed to promoting in-depth research so that Indonesia can produce chips independently. This step is expected to reduce reliance on foreign supplies and strengthen the domestic technology industry in the future.
The development of this chip technology is considered a strategic priority for the government. By possessing its own production capabilities, Indonesia is expected to be more competitive in the global market and accelerate digital transformation across various sectors of public life.
In closing, Arif Satria emphasized that strong research support is the key to achieving national self-sufficiency. The government hopes that this effort will bring positive impacts to economic growth and the advancement of science in Indonesia.
