UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya Launches First Master's Program in Turats Studies in Indonesia
Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Ampel Surabaya has just made new history in the world of Islamic higher education in Indonesia. The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, officially launched the Master's Study Program in Turats Studies at the campus. This program is the first of its kind to be opened in Indonesia.
Turats studies focus on the study of classical Islamic manuscripts, which are the intellectual heritage of past scholars. This master's program is designed to delve into these ancient thoughts so that they remain relevant to the challenges of the modern era. Students will be encouraged to research and understand classical literature deeply and critically.
In her remarks, Governor Khofifah expressed her pride in the innovation carried out by UIN Sunan Ampel. She is optimistic that this study program will become an important reference center for the development of Islamic studies in the future. The presence of this program is expected to strengthen the understanding of a moderate and peaceful Islam within society.
Furthermore, this program is expected to spread the values of Islam that are 'Rahmatan Lil Alamin,' or Islam that brings blessings to the entire universe. With a strong academic approach, graduates of this program are expected to be able to make a tangible contribution to maintaining serenity and peace through inclusive religious thought.
The launch of this study program is a step forward for the world of Islamic education in Indonesia. With a formal platform to study Islamic intellectual heritage, it is hoped that the quality of religious higher education in the country will continue to improve and be able to compete at the global level.
