Indonesia's Digital Competitiveness Still Needs Improvement
Indonesia's competitiveness ranking in the digital sector has recently become a focus for many parties. Based on the latest data, Indonesia's position in global competition has experienced a significant decline, sparking discussions regarding the readiness of technology infrastructure in the country.
One of the main indicators of concern is internet speed. Currently, the average internet speed in Indonesia is recorded at only around 28.9 Mbps. This figure still lags far behind the global average internet speed, which has reached 138 Mbps.
This internet speed gap is considered an obstacle to national digital economic growth. Infrastructure that is not yet optimal can affect company operational efficiency as well as the user experience in accessing online-based services, which are increasingly crucial in the modern era.
This condition has raised concerns among business players and investors. Many parties believe that low competitiveness could make investors more cautious about investing their capital in Indonesia, as fast and stable technological access is a primary requirement in today's business ecosystem.
Moving forward, improving the quality of internet infrastructure is a major challenge for the government and telecommunications service providers. Concrete improvement steps are expected to accelerate national connectivity so that Indonesia can compete better on the international stage.
