BRIN and ParagonCorp Develop Microalgae for the Future Cosmetic Industry
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has just announced a strategic partnership with leading cosmetic company, ParagonCorp. This collaboration aims to conduct in-depth research on the utilization of microalgae as a primary raw material in future beauty products.
Microalgae are tiny aquatic organisms that hold great potential in the industrial world. Through this research, both parties aim to prove that Indonesia's biological wealth can be processed into innovative, high-quality, and environmentally friendly materials.
This project is expected to reduce the Indonesian cosmetic industry's dependence on imported raw materials. By utilizing local resources, Indonesia has the opportunity to become more self-reliant in producing innovative beauty products that are globally competitive.
In addition to focusing on economic aspects, this research also considers environmental sustainability. The use of microalgae is considered a more sustainable solution compared to the synthetic chemicals often used in the current cosmetic industry.
As a next step, BRIN and ParagonCorp will continue to conduct laboratory testing to ensure the safety and effectiveness of these materials. The success of this collaboration is expected to serve as an example of synergy between government research institutions and the private sector in advancing the national industry.
