Indonesia's Foreign Exchange Reserves Remain Strong at 146.3 Billion US Dollars

Bank Indonesia reported that Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves at the end of September 2026 were recorded at 146.3 billion US dollars. This figure demonstrates that national economic stability remains maintained amidst the ever-changing global economic dynamics.

The level of foreign exchange reserves is considered very adequate to support the resilience of the external sector. Bank Indonesia stated that this amount is equivalent to financing 6.4 months of imports or 6.2 months of imports and government external debt payments.

The size of these foreign exchange reserves is above the international adequacy standard, which is set at around three months of imports. This provides confidence to the market and investors that Indonesia has sufficient capability to maintain the stability of the Rupiah exchange rate.

Bank Indonesia also explained that the foreign exchange reserves were influenced by several factors, including tax and service receipts, as well as the withdrawal of government external loans. This policy is part of an effort to maintain macroeconomic stability and the national financial system.

Looking ahead, Bank Indonesia will continue to strengthen the resilience of the external sector through coordination with the government and relevant authorities. The stability of foreign exchange reserves is expected to continue supporting sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.
