Indonesian Digital Society Index 2025 Increases, Yet Challenges of Equitable Distribution Remain
The 2025 Indonesian Digital Society Index (IMDI) recorded a national figure of 44.53. This data indicates an increase in the capabilities and access of the Indonesian people to digital technology compared to previous years.
In the report, the Infrastructure and Ecosystem pillar was the highest contributor, with a score reaching 53.06. This shows that the development of internet networks and supporting technology facilities in various regions of Indonesia has made significant progress.
Although the national figure has increased, the government acknowledges that the challenge of equitable distribution remains a major task. Currently, the quality of access and digital literacy has not been felt evenly by all members of society, especially in areas outside of major city centers.
The government continues to strive to narrow the digital divide between regions so that the benefits of technology can be felt by all levels of society. The main focus moving forward is to improve the quality of human resources so that people are not only able to use technology but are also capable of utilizing it for productive activities.
Overall, the increase in the 2025 IMDI is a positive signal for digital transformation in Indonesia. With the support of infrastructure that continues to be strengthened, it is hoped that the digital divide can be reduced so that all Indonesian people are prepared to compete in the global digital economy era.
