Caritas Indonesia Distributes Aid to Earthquake Victims in Flores
A significant earthquake struck the Flores region of East Nusa Tenggara at 04:58 WIB this morning. The epicenter was reported to be approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Mbay, Nagekeo Regency.
In response to the emergency situation, the humanitarian organization Caritas Indonesia immediately mobilized to provide assistance to the affected communities. A team of volunteers was deployed to the location to assess the urgent needs of residents whose homes sustained damage.
The primary focus of this aid is the provision of basic necessities, such as food, clean water, and other emergency supplies. Caritas Indonesia is also working in coordination with local government authorities to ensure that the distribution of aid proceeds smoothly and reaches those who need it most.
In addition to physical aid, the team on the ground is providing psychosocial support to residents, particularly children and the elderly who are experiencing trauma due to the earthquake. This is being done to help the community recover their mental well-being following the disaster.
Currently, the situation at the earthquake site is being continuously monitored by the authorities. The public is urged to remain calm, stay alert for potential aftershocks, and consistently follow official information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
