Indonesian Christian Intellectual Association Holds Health Sovereignty Seminar in Bandung
The Indonesian Christian Intellectual Association (PIKI) recently held a National Seminar on Health Sovereignty in Bandung. The event was attended by various experts, health practitioners, and academics to discuss the challenges and future of the health sector in Indonesia.
The main focus of this seminar was to find concrete solutions in realizing national health sovereignty. Participants discussed the importance of national self-reliance in the provision of medicines, medical equipment, and the improvement of medical service quality for all Indonesian people.
During the discussion, experts highlighted that dependence on imported health products remains a major obstacle. Therefore, collaboration between the government, the pharmaceutical industry, and educational institutions is considered essential to strengthen domestic research and innovation.
In addition to discussing industrial independence, this seminar also emphasized the importance of equitable access to healthcare in remote areas. Health sovereignty does not only mean being able to produce one's own equipment, but also ensuring that every citizen receives decent and affordable medical services.
In closing, this activity is expected to produce policy recommendations that are beneficial to the government. The results of this seminar will later serve as important input in designing a national strategy to strengthen Indonesia's health resilience system in the future.
