Air Quality in West Kalimantan Becomes the Worst in Indonesia
West Kalimantan recorded the worst air quality in Indonesia on Friday morning (8/30). Based on the latest data, the region has an air quality index that reached 670.
The index figure indicates a very high level of pollution in the region. Although there was a slight decrease of 0.28 percent compared to before, the air condition in West Kalimantan remains in a category that is concerning for public health.
Poor air quality is often caused by various factors, including land burning activities or weather conditions that do not support the dispersion of pollutants. This high index figure places West Kalimantan in first place as the region with the unhealthiest air in all of Indonesia this morning.
Polluted air conditions can have a direct impact on the respiratory health of local residents. Therefore, the public is urged to be more careful when carrying out outdoor activities and to wear masks if necessary to protect themselves from exposure to dangerous air pollution.
Local governments are expected to immediately take mitigation steps to improve air quality. Periodic monitoring continues to be carried out so that the public receives accurate information regarding developments in air quality in their region.
