Orangutan Mother and Her Baby Successfully Rescued from Forest Fire in Kalimantan
A heartbreaking incident occurred in Sampit, Central Kalimantan, when an orangutan mother and her baby were trapped in the middle of a land fire. Both were seen clinging to a tree surrounded by flames and thick smoke that endangered their lives.
Forest and land fires are indeed a serious problem that frequently occurs in the Kalimantan region, especially during the dry season. The rapidly spreading fire threatens the natural habitats of wildlife, causing many animals to lose their homes and struggle to find food sources.
Local rescue teams were immediately deployed to the scene to provide assistance. The evacuation process was carried out with extreme caution to ensure that the mother and baby orangutan did not suffer injuries or excessive stress due to the fire surrounding them.
Currently, authorities are continuing to monitor the health of both animals after they were successfully evacuated to a safer location. This incident serves as an important reminder to the public and the government regarding the importance of preserving forests and preventing land fires to protect the survival of Indonesia's endemic wildlife.
