Indonesia and China Strengthen Cooperation in the Health Sector
The governments of Indonesia and China have agreed to strengthen their cooperative relationship in the field of health. This step is realized through the renewal of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) and China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).
This cooperation aims to improve the standards of drug and food product supervision in both countries. With the renewal of this agreement, both agencies will share information regarding regulations, testing technology, and safety standards for health products circulating in the market.
In addition to the exchange of information, this cooperation also includes human resource capacity building. Experts from BPOM and NMPA will conduct technical discussions to ensure that medicinal products entering Indonesia meet strict safety standards for the public.
This step is considered important because China is one of Indonesia's main trading partners in the provision of pharmaceutical raw materials. With better supervision, it is hoped that the quality of medicines consumed by the Indonesian public will be increasingly guaranteed in terms of safety.
Overall, the renewal of this MoU serves as proof of both countries' commitment to maintaining public health. It is hoped that this cooperation can continue to develop and provide tangible benefits to the national health system in the future.
