Muhammadiyah Presents WHO-Standard Field Hospital for Earthquake Victims
The Muhammadiyah Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah Institute (Lazismu) has just launched the Indonesia Siaga (Indonesia Alert) program by establishing a field hospital. This emergency health facility was built specifically to assist communities affected by the earthquake in areas requiring immediate medical attention.
This field hospital meets the international standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO). With these standards, the facility is ensured to be capable of providing high-quality, safe, and professional health services for disaster survivors at evacuation sites.
Head of the Muhammadiyah Emergency Medical Team (EMT), Dr. Corona, stated that the establishment of this hospital is part of the organization's commitment to supporting public health services. The presence of this facility is crucial so that residents who are injured or ill due to the earthquake can receive medical treatment quickly without having to travel long distances to a permanent hospital.
In addition to providing experienced medical personnel, this field hospital is also equipped with adequate supporting equipment. This step is expected to lighten the burden on local governments in handling post-disaster health crises and accelerate the recovery process for earthquake victims in the field.
