Government Strengthens Nutri-Level Policy to Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases
The Health Development Policy Agency highlights the importance of preventive measures in addressing the threat of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Indonesia. Currently, NCDs are considered a serious public health crisis due to their extensive impact on the population's quality of life and the burden on national healthcare costs.
One of the strategic steps currently being developed is the implementation of the Nutri-Level policy. This policy aims to provide clearer information to consumers regarding the nutritional content of packaged food and beverage products. With an easy-to-understand labeling system, it is hoped that the public will be able to choose healthier products every day.
In addition to labeling, the government also emphasizes the importance of nutritional education for all levels of society. Diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity are often triggered by unhealthy consumption patterns over the long term. Therefore, lifestyle changes through the selection of proper nutritional intake are the main key to prevention.
This policy is expected to become the foundation for the future of preventive health in Indonesia. By simplifying access to nutritional information, the government aims to create an environment that supports people in living healthier lives and reducing the number of chronic disease sufferers in the future.
