Government Urged to Simplify Access to Healthcare Services in UHC Program
The Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program in Indonesia is expected to serve as an accessible gateway for the public to obtain healthcare services. However, there are currently concerns that complicated administrative systems are actually hindering citizens from accessing the healthcare facilities they need.
Community organizations, such as Rekan Indonesia in North Sumatra, have highlighted the importance of improvements in the data collection system. A primary issue that frequently arises is the inaccuracy of decile data or the classification of community welfare levels. Inaccurate data can lead to situations where citizens who are entitled to receive assistance struggle to gain access to free healthcare services.
Beyond data issues, lengthy administrative processes often become an obstacle in the field. Many patients feel confused by the procedures they must navigate when trying to use their health insurance cards. This makes the primary goal of UHC—to provide equitable health protection for all Indonesian people—less effective.
Central and regional governments are expected to immediately perform periodic data updates. With accurate data and a simpler administrative system, it is hoped that the public will no longer feel burdened by bureaucratic processes when they are ill or in need of medical assistance.
In conclusion, improving the UHC system is a crucial step toward enhancing national health quality. The main focus moving forward is to ensure that every citizen can access healthcare services quickly, easily, and without unnecessary administrative barriers.
