Government Plans to Restructure State-Owned Enterprises That Continue to Suffer Losses
The Indonesian government is currently preparing strategic steps to improve the performance of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). The main focus of this plan is to restructure and streamline the number of state-owned companies deemed less efficient.
This step is being taken because there are still a number of BUMNs that have continued to record losses for years. This unhealthy financial condition has become a serious concern for the government so that these companies do not continue to burden the state budget.
The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) will play an important role in this improvement process. They are tasked with evaluating company performance and determining the most appropriate steps, whether it be business mergers or operational efficiency.
This streamlining process is expected to make the management of BUMNs more professional and focused on their core business areas. With better governance, it is hoped that these state-owned companies can once again provide profits for the country.
Looking ahead, the government hopes that this restructuring step can create more resilient and competitive BUMNs. The public is also awaiting the results of this policy so that state assets can be managed more transparently and be more beneficial to the national economy.
