Indonesia Prepares to Become a Global Hub for Disaster Resilience and Technology
Indonesia has officially commenced a series of activities leading up to the 3rd Global Forum for Sustainable Resilience (GFSR), which will be held in 2026. This initial step was marked by the National Seminar themed “Towards Resilience,” which involved various stakeholders in the disaster management sector.
This event aims to strengthen Indonesia's position as a leader in technological innovation and disaster mitigation strategies. Given Indonesia's geographical location in a disaster-prone region, the development of appropriate technology is crucial for protecting the public and national infrastructure.
During the seminar, experts discussed the importance of collaboration between the government, academia, and the private sector in creating sustainable resilience systems. The main focus of the discussion included the utilization of digital technology and more modern early warning systems to face future climate change challenges.
Through this series of forums, Indonesia hopes to share its experiences and best practices in disaster management with the international community. Furthermore, this initiative is expected to attract global investment and cooperation in the development of disaster research within the country.
In closing, the government is committed to continuously enhancing national capacity in facing various disaster risks. By hosting this global forum, Indonesia aims to demonstrate that it is capable of becoming a center for knowledge and solutions for disaster resilience on a global scale.
