Economic Expert Warns of the Dangers of 'Shadow Politics' to Indonesian Democracy
Senior economist Didik J. Rachbini recently issued an important warning regarding the political situation in Indonesia. He highlighted a phenomenon known as 'shadow politics,' which has the potential to influence the current course of government.
According to Didik, the main danger of this phenomenon is the influence exerted by former national leaders on the policies of the current administration. He is concerned that interference from parties outside the government could create obstacles for the sitting president in making decisions independently.
Furthermore, Didik emphasized the risk of a dualism of power. If a former president continues to hold significant influence outside of the official structure, it could confuse the public and create uncertainty within the system of government. This condition is considered unhealthy for the development of democracy in the country.
In his view, a healthy democracy requires a clear separation of powers. Every newly elected leader must be given full space to carry out their vision and mission without pressure or the shadow of other parties who no longer hold official positions.
This warning serves as a reminder to all elements of the nation to maintain the integrity of the political system. The stability of the government depends heavily on how power is exercised transparently and in accordance with the prevailing laws in Indonesia.
