Bio Farma Strengthens National Health Resilience Through Production of New Antiviral Medication
Bio Farma Group has just taken a strategic step to improve health resilience in Indonesia. The state-owned pharmaceutical company is committed to strengthening the national health ecosystem through global collaboration in the development of influenza antiviral medication.
A concrete step from this collaboration is the granting of a sublicense to Kimia Farma (KAEF). With this partnership, Kimia Farma will produce the generic drug baloxavir marboxil locally in Indonesia.
Baloxavir marboxil is an antiviral medication that is effective for treating influenza. By producing this drug domestically, it is hoped that the Indonesian public will have easier and more affordable access to treatment.
This effort is part of Bio Farma's long-term strategy to reduce Indonesia's dependence on imported medicines. Furthermore, this step also aims to ensure sufficient drug stock availability in the event of a surge in infectious disease cases.
Through this collaboration, Bio Farma hopes to continue contributing to maintaining the health of the Indonesian people. This initiative serves as clear evidence of the national pharmaceutical industry's role in facing future global health challenges.
