Indonesia's Digital Competitiveness Still Needs Improvement
Indonesia's competitiveness ranking in the digital sector has recently become a focus for many parties. Based on the latest data, Indonesia's position in global competition has experienced a quite significant decline compared to previous years.
One of the main problems faced is the still-low internet speed. Currently, internet speed in Indonesia is recorded at only around 28.9 Mbps. This figure is far behind the global average internet speed, which has reached 138 Mbps.
This suboptimal state of digital infrastructure is triggering concerns among business players and investors. Slow internet speed is considered an obstacle for companies to carry out operations efficiently in the current digital economy era.
In addition to the speed issue, another challenge faced is the equitable distribution of technology access across various regions. The digital divide between large cities and remote areas remains a major homework assignment for the government and telecommunications service providers.
The government is expected to immediately take strategic steps to improve information technology infrastructure. Improving internet quality is crucial so that Indonesia remains competitive and capable of attracting foreign investor interest in the future.
