Indonesian Government Evaluates Motor Vehicle Tax System
The Indonesian government is currently reviewing the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) system that is currently in effect in the country. Up until now, the calculation of this tax has been based on the Motor Vehicle Sales Value (NJKB) as the primary reference for vehicle owners.
Many parties believe that the current system needs to be improved to be fairer and more targeted. The main focus of this evaluation is to ensure that tax policy not only benefits the state but also imposes a reasonable burden on the public as vehicle owners.
Economic experts argue that the orientation of vehicle taxes needs to be adjusted to current economic conditions. This change in the system is expected to increase public compliance in paying taxes on time each year.
As a next step, the government will conduct an in-depth study regarding more modern tax calculation methods. It is hoped that this new policy will eventually create a taxation system that is more transparent and easily understood by all levels of society in Indonesia.
