Government Launches Father's Movement to Prevent Stunting in Indonesia

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has just launched a new initiative called the Father's Movement (Gerakan Ayah). This program aims to increase the active role of fathers in supporting children's health, especially during the first 1,000 days of their lives.

So far, the responsibility of raising children has often been considered the primary duty of mothers. However, the government emphasizes that the involvement of fathers is crucial to ensure optimal child growth and to prevent malnutrition or stunting issues.

Through this movement, fathers are expected to be more involved in various aspects of parenting. This includes providing proper nutrition, monitoring children's health regularly at integrated healthcare centers (posyandu), and creating a family environment that supports child development from an early age.

Stunting remains a serious health challenge in Indonesia. With full support from fathers, it is hoped that stunting rates can be significantly reduced so that the next generation can grow up healthier and smarter.

The government hopes that this program can change public mindset regarding the roles of parents. Through good collaboration between fathers and mothers, it is expected that the quality of child-rearing in Indonesia will be much better in the future.
