Ahead of the 35th NU Congress, Transactional Politics Becomes a Major Focus
Ahead of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress, the issue of transactional politics has once again become a hot topic of public discussion. Various parties, ranging from community leaders to observers, have begun to pay serious attention to the potential for such practices during the election process within Indonesia's largest Islamic organization.
Transactional politics is often considered a threat to the integrity of the organization. Many are concerned that the practice of offering rewards or promising positions in exchange for votes could undermine the noble values that have long been upheld by Nahdlatul Ulama.
Observers are urging the organizing committee and all Congress participants to take a firm stance in rejecting all forms of money politics. This step is considered crucial to maintaining the organization's dignity so that it remains focused on serving the people and the nation, rather than merely pursuing the interests of certain groups.
In addition to the calls for firm action, appeals to maintain a peaceful and democratic atmosphere throughout the Congress continue to be echoed. It is hoped that the leadership election process will proceed honestly and transparently, ensuring that the results of the 35th Congress truly bring progress to all Nahdliyin members in Indonesia.
