Indonesian Government Targets Increased Crude Oil Production Through Technological Cooperation
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, recently announced an ambitious target to increase national crude oil production. The Indonesian government plans to raise oil lifting figures to reach 612,500 barrels per day by 2027.
To achieve this target, the government is striving to strengthen strategic cooperation with the United States. The main focus of this collaboration is the exchange of technology and expertise in the energy sector. The use of modern technology is expected to help Indonesia optimize existing oil wells and improve operational efficiency in the field.
Furthermore, this step is part of Indonesia's long-term effort to achieve energy independence. By increasing domestic production, the government hopes to reduce reliance on imported crude oil, which has been burdening the national trade balance.
Moving forward, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will continue to evaluate various oil and gas projects across Indonesia. The government is also committed to creating a better investment climate for foreign companies that wish to bring their advanced technology to Indonesia to support national energy security.
