BMKG Predicts El Nino Phenomenon to Last Until 2027
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recently issued an important warning regarding weather conditions in Indonesia. Based on the latest data, the El Nino phenomenon is expected to continue until the beginning of 2027.
The El Nino phenomenon is a climate pattern that causes sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean to become warmer than usual. For Indonesia, this condition often brings impacts in the form of longer dry seasons and a significant decrease in rainfall across various regions.
These dry weather conditions can affect the agricultural sector and the availability of clean water for the public. Therefore, BMKG urges local governments and the community to begin taking anticipatory steps early on to face the potential for prolonged drought.
In addition to the agricultural sector, this phenomenon also increases the risk of forest and land fires in several regions. Authorities are expected to monitor the situation more strictly to prevent greater impacts on the environment and public health.
BMKG continues to monitor climate developments periodically and will provide the latest information to the public. The public is advised to always follow official weather information updates from BMKG's communication channels to remain vigilant regarding changes in environmental conditions around them.
