Minister of Communication and Digital Introduces Indonesia's Three Pillars of Digital Transformation at UN Forum
Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) delivered an important vision at the United Nations (UN) WSIS 2026 Forum. In this international meeting, Indonesia offered a digital transformation model focused on security and ethics. This step was taken to ensure that technological advancements provide positive benefits for all Indonesian people.
This digital transformation model is built on three main pillars: Connected, Grow, and Protected. The first pillar, "Connected," aims to continue expanding internet access to all corners of the country. With equitable connectivity, the government hopes there will no longer be a digital divide between residents in major cities and those in remote areas.
The second pillar is "Grow," which focuses on the development of the digital economy. The government wants the public to be able to use technology to create new business opportunities and improve economic welfare. Meanwhile, the third pillar, "Protected," emphasizes the importance of data security and privacy protection. This is crucial so that people feel safe while engaging in online activities.
The Minister emphasized that technological progress must not ignore ethical values. Amidst the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and social media, Indonesia is committed to maintaining a healthy digital space. With clear regulations, risks such as online fraud and the spread of false information are expected to be significantly reduced.
Through this international forum, Indonesia also invited other countries to collaborate in creating an inclusive digital ecosystem. Global cooperation is considered vital because challenges in the digital world often cross national borders. Indonesia hopes this transformation model can serve as a reference for other developing countries in facing the digital era.
In closing, a secure and ethical digital transformation is expected to become the foundation for a more advanced future for Indonesia. With the support of strong infrastructure and sound legal protection, the Indonesian people are expected to be ready to face future technological challenges with greater confidence.
