SAR Team Expands Search for Journalists Missing in Sunda Strait
A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is currently conducting an intensive search operation in the waters of the Sunda Strait. This operation is being carried out to locate five journalists and three crew members who were reported missing after covering the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.
The victims were previously at the location to document the volcano's volcanic activity. However, after the eruption occurred, contact with the boat they were on was lost, and they could not be found in the vicinity of the incident.
Weather conditions and ongoing unpredictable volcanic activity remain the primary challenges for the rescue team. Nevertheless, the search area has been expanded to points estimated to be the boat's drift path based on the direction of sea currents in the Sunda Strait.
Authorities have urged the public and fishermen in the surrounding area to report immediately if they find any signs or items related to the missing boat. The SAR team's primary focus at this time is to comb the water area using speedboats and underwater monitoring equipment.
The search process will continue to be carried out to the maximum extent over the next few days. The victims' families and relevant media organizations continue to monitor the development of this situation with the hope that the journalists and crew members can be found safe soon.
