Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Enhances Mental Health Support Services for Indonesian Citizens in Japan
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo has just launched a new initiative to improve mental health support for Indonesian citizens (WNI) living in Japan. This step was taken in response to the growing need for psychological assistance among Indonesian migrant workers, students, and expatriates there.
This program provides access to online consultations with professional psychologists who understand the Indonesian cultural context. In addition, the Embassy will also hold a series of seminars and workshops on stress management and how to adapt to the fast-paced work and social environments in Japan.
According to the Embassy, many Indonesian citizens face significant challenges while abroad, ranging from work pressure to feelings of loneliness due to being far from family. This support is expected to help them maintain emotional balance so they can remain productive and healthy throughout their stay in Japan.
Beyond providing consultation services, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo is also building a support community network among Indonesian citizens. Through this community, Indonesians can share experiences and provide moral support to one another, ensuring they do not feel they are struggling alone in a foreign land.
This proactive step by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo has received positive appreciation from various segments of the Indonesian community in Japan. It is hoped that this program can serve as an example for Indonesian diplomatic missions in other countries in providing more comprehensive protection, not only in terms of legal matters but also mental health for all Indonesian citizens abroad.
