UMY Expert: Health AI Technology Must Be Distributed Evenly to Remote Areas of Indonesia

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the healthcare sector in Indonesia is currently in the spotlight. Experts emphasize that this technology should not be concentrated only in large hospitals in major cities, but must be accessible to all people in various regions.

A professor from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) stated that the development of AI in the health sector must be based on strong scientific evidence. This is important so that the technology truly provides tangible benefits for patients and medical personnel in diagnosing and treating diseases.

Currently, the use of AI is often still limited to health facilities with very complete infrastructure. In fact, the greatest health challenges in Indonesia are often found in areas that have limited access to advanced technology and specialized personnel.

Therefore, experts are encouraging the government and technology developers to create more inclusive AI solutions. The technology developed is expected to be able to adapt to conditions in the field, so that it can assist community health centers (puskesmas) or regional hospitals in providing better services.

In conclusion, digital transformation in the health sector must be carried out evenly. By ensuring that AI can be used outside of large hospitals, it is hoped that the gap in healthcare quality in Indonesia can be significantly reduced in the future.
