BPOM and IAI Strengthen Cooperation to Ensure Drug Safety in Indonesia
The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) has officially strengthened its collaboration with the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI). This cooperation aims to improve the oversight of drug and food distribution throughout all regions of Indonesia.
This step was taken as a strategic effort to bolster national health resilience. Through synergy between the regulator and the professional organization, it is hoped that the supervision of health products can be carried out more effectively and comprehensively from the central to the regional level.
The role of pharmacists is crucial in the drug distribution chain. Through this collaboration, BPOM and IAI will share data and information regarding product safety. This is being done to prevent the circulation of illegal drugs or products that do not meet health standards and pose a danger to the public.
In addition to oversight, this cooperation also includes public education regarding the safe and correct use of medication. Pharmacists in the field will serve as the front line in providing accurate information to patients when they purchase medicine at pharmacies.
In conclusion, this strengthened partnership is expected to create a more robust oversight system. With support from various parties, BPOM is optimistic that public access to safe food and medicine can be continuously maintained for the health of the nation.
