Indonesia Learns from India in Public Digital Infrastructure Development
The Indonesian government is currently exploring cooperation with India to accelerate the development of public digital infrastructure. This step is being taken because India is considered successful in implementing a broad and inclusive digital system for its people in recent years.
In a meeting between officials from both countries, the Indonesian side studied how India built digital identity systems and payment platforms that can be accessed by millions of people. These systems allow citizens to obtain government services and conduct financial transactions more quickly and efficiently via smartphones.
Indonesia hopes to adopt similar technology to support its national digital transformation. The main focus of this cooperation is to create a system that is secure, easy to use, and capable of reaching people in remote areas so that there is no gap in technology access.
In addition to infrastructure, both countries also discussed the importance of personal data protection and cybersecurity within the digital ecosystem. The Indonesian government emphasized that the security of citizens' data is a top priority in every new technology development that will be implemented.
Through this collaboration, Indonesia is optimistic that it can improve the quality of digital-based public services. It is hoped that this step will facilitate the daily economic activities of the community and strengthen Indonesia's position in the digital economy in the Southeast Asia region.
