West Java Promotes Development of Muslim-Friendly Tourism to Boost Economy
The West Java Provincial Government is currently focusing on developing the tourism sector with a new concept. The Vice Governor of West Java is encouraging regency and city governments to start developing Muslim-friendly tourism in their respective regions. This step aims to attract more tourists and strengthen West Java's position as a leading tourist destination.
Muslim-friendly tourism does not mean turning tourist attractions entirely into religious sites. This concept emphasizes the provision of supporting facilities that make it easier for Muslim tourists during their visit. These facilities include the availability of clean places of worship, halal-certified food, and adequate purification facilities in public areas.
West Java is considered to have great potential for developing this concept due to its natural beauty and cultural richness. Furthermore, with the majority of Indonesia's population being Muslim, the demand for halal tourism services continues to increase every year. The presence of Muslim-friendly facilities is expected to make tourists feel more comfortable and at ease during their vacation.
The development of this sector is also predicted to have a positive impact on the local economy. If the number of tourist visits increases, the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, such as restaurants, souvenir shops, and accommodations, will also grow. This will automatically open up more new job opportunities for the community around tourist locations.
The government hopes for strong cooperation between local governments, business actors, and the community to realize this program. With thorough preparation, West Java is optimistic that it can become a competitive Muslim-friendly tourism hub at both national and international levels. This innovation is an important part of the strategy for the recovery and advancement of Indonesia's tourism industry.
