Construction begins on major €48m data centre project in Ireland
A significant new construction project has officially begun in Ireland this week. The engineering firm Dornan held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of work on a new data centre, which is valued at approximately €48 million.
This project represents a major investment in Ireland’s digital infrastructure. Data centres are essential facilities that house the computer systems and servers needed to store and process the vast amounts of information used by modern businesses and internet users every day.
While the specific location of the site was not detailed in the initial report, the project is part of a growing trend of high-tech construction across the country. Dornan, a well-known Irish engineering company, will lead the development to ensure the facility meets modern technological standards.
This development is expected to create jobs during the construction phase and support the long-term growth of the technology sector in Ireland. As the demand for digital services continues to rise globally, projects like this one play a key role in maintaining Ireland's position as a hub for international technology companies.
