Gardaí Investigate Hacked Social Media Account of Senior AIG Executive
An Garda Síochána is currently conducting an investigation following reports of a security breach involving the social media account of a senior executive at AIG Ireland. The inquiry began after extreme antisemitic content was posted on the executive’s account on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Representatives for the insurance company have stated that the account was compromised by an unauthorized third party. According to the company, the executive did not post the offensive messages themselves, and they are cooperating fully with the authorities to resolve the matter.
Cybersecurity experts often warn that high-profile accounts are frequent targets for hackers. When an account is taken over, attackers may post harmful or controversial material to damage the reputation of the individual or the organization they represent.
As the investigation continues, Gardaí are working to determine the source of the breach. The company has confirmed that they are taking the situation very seriously and are working to ensure that their digital security protocols are strengthened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
