Ardmore Named Ireland’s Greenest Place for 2026
The coastal village of Ardmore in County Waterford has received a prestigious national honour. It has been officially named Ireland’s Greenest Place for 2026. This competition recognizes towns and villages across the country that show a strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainable living.
Waterford City and County Council played a significant role in this achievement. The local authority provided support for various climate action projects throughout the area. These initiatives focused on preserving the local landscape, improving waste management, and encouraging residents to adopt greener habits in their daily lives.
This award highlights the hard work of the local community. Residents and local groups collaborated closely with the council to improve the village’s environmental standards. Their efforts included protecting natural habitats and promoting eco-friendly tourism, which helped Ardmore stand out among other competitors nationwide.
The recognition serves as a positive example for other Irish communities. By focusing on climate action and local cooperation, Ardmore has demonstrated that small towns can make a significant impact on the environment. The council hopes this success will inspire further green initiatives across the county in the coming years.
