Intel Announces €5 Billion Expansion at Leixlip Facility
Global technology giant Intel has officially announced a major investment of €5 billion to expand its semiconductor manufacturing operations in Ireland. The project will focus on increasing production capacity at the company’s long-standing campus located in Leixlip, County Kildare.
This significant financial commitment is expected to strengthen Ireland’s position as a key hub for the global semiconductor industry. Semiconductors are essential components used in almost all modern electronic devices, ranging from smartphones and computers to advanced medical equipment and vehicles.
The expansion project is currently underway and is scheduled for completion in 2027. Once finished, the upgraded facility will feature advanced manufacturing technology, allowing Intel to produce more chips to meet the growing international demand for high-performance computing power.
This investment is seen as a positive development for the Irish economy, as it supports high-skilled jobs and reinforces the country's reputation for hosting large-scale technology manufacturing. Intel has maintained a presence in Leixlip for several decades, and this latest move confirms the company's continued commitment to its Irish operations.
