Two young athletes from the Barrow Valley region have achieved significant success at the recent All-Ireland athletics championships. The competition, which took place this past Saturday, saw local competitors Billy Og Forde and his teammate Butcher perform at an elite level against the best young talent in the country.
Billy Og Forde claimed the gold medal in the U14 200m event. His victory highlights the growing strength of athletics in the Barrow Valley area and marks a major milestone in his young sporting career. The event brought together top-tier athletes from across Ireland to compete for the prestigious national titles.
Alongside Forde, Butcher also secured a gold medal in his respective category. The pair’s combined success brought two national titles home to their club, reflecting the hard work and dedication required to reach the top of the podium at a national level.
These victories serve as an inspiration for other young athletes in the community. As the athletics season continues, both Forde and Butcher will look to build on these performances in future national and regional competitions.
