Netanyahu's defense team requests to reduce trial hearing days
Attorney Amit Hadad, representing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has petitioned the court to modify the hearing schedule. The defense argues that it is unable to keep up with the pace of five hearing days per week as currently required.
During the court session, attorney Hadad emphasized that the volume of work required to prepare the defense is immense. According to him, managing a trial of this magnitude requires significant time for preparation, and holding hearings every day of the week does not allow for this to be done properly.
To illustrate his point, the attorney noted that throughout Israel's legal history, the only trial conducted on a five-day-a-week schedule was the trial of Adolf Eichmann. He asked the judges to take these circumstances into account and to reconsider the number of days that have been set.
The request has sparked public and legal debate regarding how the trial is being managed and the necessary balance between the desire to conclude proceedings quickly and the defendant's right to a proper defense. The parties are now awaiting the judges' decision regarding the future schedule of the case.
