HMOs prepare for winter: Flu vaccination campaign to begin soon
The Ministry of Health and Israel's HMOs are preparing for the upcoming winter season. The order for approximately 2.1 million doses of the flu vaccine, which will be distributed to insured individuals across the country, has now been completed.
According to the Ministry of Health's plan, the vaccination campaign is expected to officially begin immediately after the Tishrei holidays. The primary goal of the campaign is to protect the population from seasonal illness and prevent strain on hospitals and community clinics during the cold months.
The decision regarding the quantity of vaccines was made after examining data from the Southern Hemisphere, where the winter season has already concluded. Experts at the Ministry of Health are monitoring global trends to adapt the vaccines to the strains expected to reach Israel in the coming months.
The vaccine is especially recommended for at-risk populations, including the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and young children. However, the Ministry of Health emphasizes that the vaccine is available to the general public and recommends that everyone come to get vaccinated to maintain their health.
In the coming days, the HMOs are expected to publish the registration and appointment scheduling methods. The public is invited to stay updated via the HMOs' websites and apps in order to schedule an appointment and get vaccinated at the earliest possible time.
