Joint Operation: Monkey Kept Illegally Rescued in Ramla
In a joint operation by the Israel Police, IDF soldiers, and Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors, a monkey kept in illegal conditions inside a cage in the city of Ramla was rescued this week. The operation was carried out after information was received regarding a protected animal being kept in a private home without a permit.
Upon arriving at the scene, the forces found the monkey being held in a small cage. According to Israeli law, the possession of certain wild animals in private homes is strictly prohibited, as it poses a risk to public health and harms the welfare of the animal itself.
Following the incident, a resident of Ramla was detained for questioning by the police. The suspect was interrogated on suspicion of offenses related to animal trafficking and the illegal possession of a protected animal. The investigation into the matter is ongoing to determine how the monkey came into her possession.
The Israel Nature and Parks Authority emphasizes that keeping wild animals as pets is a dangerous and unacceptable practice. Law enforcement agencies are calling on the public to report any suspected cases of illegal animal possession to ensure the safety of both the animals and the general public.
