Netanyahu Trial: Defense opposes increasing the pace of hearings
Attorney Amit Hadad, representing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his trial, has appealed to the court requesting not to increase the number of hearing days per week. The defense argues that it is unable to sustain a schedule of five hearing days per week, as recently proposed.
During the hearing, Attorney Hadad compared the request to the pace of the Eichmann trial. He stated that the Eichmann trial was the only case in Israeli legal history where hearings were held at such a volume, and he emphasized that this would be an excessive burden for the defense team.
This request comes against the backdrop of the judicial system's attempts to conclude the evidentiary stage in the cases pending against the Prime Minister. The judges are currently reviewing the defense's arguments and the options for continuing to manage the trial efficiently, while taking the complexity of the cases into account.
The court's decision on this matter is expected to impact the trial's schedule in the coming months. As of now, the parties are awaiting the judges' ruling regarding the number of days to be dedicated to hearings each week.
