The Ministry of Science Promotes New Research to Advance Women's Sports in Israel
The Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology recently published a new call for proposals for applied research in the field of competitive women's sports in Israel. The program, intended for the year 2026, seeks to encourage researchers and experts to examine in depth the unique needs of female athletes. The primary goal is to improve existing professional knowledge and provide female athletes with better tools for success.
According to the ministry's data, there is currently a very significant gap in the field of scientific research. Although women constitute a central and important part of the sports world, data shows that only about six percent of all scientific research in the field of sports focuses on women. Most of the knowledge currently available is based on studies conducted on men, which is not always suitable for the physiology and capabilities of women.
The new studies are expected to cover a wide range of topics, from physiological and medical aspects to psychological and social aspects. The information emerging from these studies will help coaches, sports associations, and decision-makers build personalized training and nutrition programs. This will allow female athletes in Israel to reach their full potential and achieve higher accomplishments in competitions both in Israel and abroad.
This initiative is considered an important step toward promoting equality and professionalism in Israeli sports. Through investment in science and technology, the state hopes to strengthen the status of female athletes and provide them with data-driven professional support. The move is expected to have a positive impact on the future generation of female athletes in Israel and encourage many more girls to join the world of competitive sports.
