Suspected Ebola case in Israel: Person who returned from Congo develops symptoms
The Ministry of Health issued an official statement today (Sunday) reporting that a person is suspected of having the Ebola virus. The concern arose after the individual recently returned from a visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country where the virus is more prevalent than in other parts of the world.
According to the report, upon returning to Israel, the person began suffering from a high fever. Following the onset of symptoms, medical teams began the necessary tests to determine whether it is indeed the Ebola virus or another illness. The patient is currently under strict medical supervision to prevent any possibility of transmission.
This is the fifth time this year that a suspected case of Ebola has been reported in Israel. In previous instances, after a series of in-depth tests, it was determined that the suspects were not infected with the virus. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that it is monitoring the situation closely and is instructing hospitals to act according to established protocols for cases involving suspected infectious diseases.
The public is requested to continue following the Ministry of Health's guidelines regarding travel to countries where there is a risk of infection. The Ministry of Health will continue to update the public as the patient's test results become available.
