Ministry of Health: Two Israelis hospitalized in isolation over suspected Ebola virus infection
The Ministry of Health updated today (Sunday) that two people have been hospitalized in isolation at a hospital in Israel. The two recently returned from a visit to the country of Congo in Africa, and they are under medical supervision due to concerns that they have contracted the Ebola virus.
According to the Ministry's announcement, the patients were transferred to isolation immediately upon their arrival at the hospital, in accordance with the strict protocols customary in cases involving suspected dangerous infectious diseases. Medical teams are currently conducting the necessary tests to determine whether it is indeed the Ebola virus or another illness.
The Ebola virus is considered a severe and highly contagious disease, transmitted through contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person. The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the situation is under full control and that there is no danger to the general public at this stage. Medical authorities are closely monitoring the condition of the hospitalized individuals and are awaiting laboratory results.
The Ministry of Health reminds travelers returning from countries where there is an outbreak of infectious diseases that they must report this to medical staff if they feel unwell. The Ministry will continue to update the public on developments as further data on the matter becomes available.
