Severe heatwave in Israel: Temperatures soar to record highs
In recent days, the State of Israel has been dealing with an extreme and significant heatwave. According to data from the Meteorological Service, temperatures across the country have risen significantly, leading to particularly heavy heat loads in many areas.
The areas hit hardest are the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee region. In communities such as Capernaum and Beit She'an, temperatures of 43.5 degrees Celsius were recorded, while in the city of Tiberias, 42.5 degrees were measured. These are very high values that are making daily life difficult for residents.
The intense heat is directly affecting many workers who are forced to stay outside air-conditioned buildings during the workday. Field workers, drivers, and maintenance personnel report great difficulty in performing their jobs under the blazing sun, and emphasize the importance of drinking plenty of water and taking breaks in the shade.
Authorities recommend that the public take precautions to avoid heatstroke and health risks. It is recommended to stay in closed, air-conditioned places as much as possible, avoid strenuous physical activity during peak heat hours, and ensure plenty of water consumption.
As of now, it appears that the heatwave is expected to continue in the coming days. The public is asked to follow weather updates and heed the instructions of health officials in order to get through this hot period safely.
