IDF declares closed military zone in the Gaza envelope area
The IDF Spokesperson announced this morning the decision of the Southern Command commander to declare several areas in the Western Negev a closed military zone. The decision was made ahead of a planned march by dozens of ministers and Knesset members toward the Gaza Strip.
According to the official announcement, the order went into effect today at 8:00 AM and is expected to remain in force until tomorrow, Monday, at 8:00 AM. The area covered by the order extends from the Yad Mordechai junction, west of Route 34, to the areas adjacent to the Gaza border.
The decision to restrict entry to the area is intended to ensure the safety of citizens and participants in the march, as well as to allow security forces to operate in the area without interference. IDF and police forces are deployed in the area to enforce the order and prevent the entry of unauthorized civilians.
Security officials emphasize that entry into the closed zone is strictly prohibited and call on the public to obey the instructions of the soldiers and police officers on the ground. As of now, no further details have been provided regarding expected changes to the guidelines after the order expires tomorrow morning.
